Questions

How do I turn this into my company’s org chart?

Open the live template and choose “Use this template”. Then either rename the sample people in the grid view, or drop in your own spreadsheet with a name column and a manager column. The layout is worked out for you, so there is nothing to position by hand.

Can I build it straight from an HR export?

Yes. Any spreadsheet with one row per person and a column saying who they report to will do, as an .xlsx file, a CSV, or a range pasted out of Excel. Headers like “Employee”, “Manager”, “Reports To” or “Role” are recognised automatically, and anything else is mapped in one step.

Is it safe to use with real employee data?

Yes. The file is read in your browser and never sent to a server, so names and titles do not leave your computer. That is the main reason teams choose it over tools that upload the spreadsheet.

How big a company can it chart?

Thousands of people. Collapse any branch to focus on one department, or switch to the grid view to edit the underlying rows directly.
