A Visio alternative for org charts
In Visio, building an org chart from an Excel sheet is a Plan 2 feature, at $15 per user per month paid yearly. If a spreadsheet-driven org chart is the only thing you need Visio for, ChartChalk does that job in the browser: drop in the sheet and the chart lays itself out, with no install and no licence.

Questions
Can I make an org chart from Excel without Visio?
Yes. Open ChartChalk and drop in your workbook, or paste the range straight out of Excel. It needs one column with each person’s name and one with their manager’s. The chart is laid out automatically, and headers like “Employee” and “Reports To” are recognised without any setup.
Can I export to PowerPoint like I would from Visio?
Yes, on Pro: PowerPoint, PDF, SVG and a watermark-free PNG. A PNG with a small watermark is free.
Does it open .vsdx files?
No. ChartChalk builds charts from spreadsheet data, not from Visio drawings. If you have the underlying employee list, that is all it needs.
